Frequently Asked Questions & Pricing
Frequently Asked Questions:

Why should I purchase a puppy from Big Sky Springers?
When purchasing a puppy from Big Sky Springers you are getting much more than just a new addition to the family. We work hard to provide our customers with quality, healthy puppies, at reasonable prices.

Do you ship your puppies?
Yes we do ship puppies. Email or call if you'd like more information regarding shipping.

Is a deposit required to secure a puppy?
Yes. A $200.00 deposit is required. A deposit is a statement to the selller that you are committed in your intent to purchase a puppy.

Is the deposit Non-refundable?
The $200 deposit is NOT refundable unless death, sickness or other underlying problems with the puppy should occur before your puppy is in your care OR if we do not produce the sex or color you want. So please be certain you want a puppy before placing a deposit. The puppy is pulled off the market and then cost us extra to re-advertise and sell. When there is a non-refundable deposit involved the chances are a lot higher that the buyer will be dedicated to picking a puppy from us and aren’t making an impulsive decision like many do when they want the first available or simply see a puppy.

Are your dogs AKC registered?
Yes all of our dogs and puppies are registered through the American Kennel Club. The American Kennel Club is one of your best registries. The American Kennel Club, a not-for-profit organization established in 1884, maintains a purebred dog registry, sanctions dog events, and promotes responsible dog ownership.

What is Limited AKC Registration?
Limited Registration means that the dog IS registered but no litters produced by that dog are eligible for registration. No offspring of a dog for which Limited Registration has been granted is eligible for registration. A dog registered with an AKC Limited Registration shall be ineligible to be entered in a breed competition in a licensed or member dog show. It is eligible, however, to be entered in any other licensed or member event. These events include: Obedience, Tracking, Field Trials, Hunting Tests, Herding, Lure Coursing, Agility and Earthdog.

Do you offer Full AKC Registration/breeding rights?
No, sorry we do not offer full registration on our puppies. Our primary goal is to find our puppies families homes.

Do you require spaying/neutering?
NO, we do not require you to spay/netuer your dog but do encourage it as it will cut back on behavioral issues that come with a dog that is not fixed. We suggest spaying/neutering before 6 months old.

How does the waiting list work?
1st deposit received gets 1st pick, 2nd deposit gets 2nd pick, etc...If the puppy you are wanting is not produced or they have all been placed in the homes of those above you on the waiting list your name will be added to the next waiting list. Or in some cases your deposit will be refunded.

What will my puppy come with?
Your puppy will come to you with age appropriate vaccinations and dewormings, AKC registration, copy of parents pedigree's, vaccination records, one year health guarantee against genetic defects, two year hip guarantee and a sample pack of food your puppy has been eating.

Will my puppy be potty trained?
Upon leaving your puppy will not be house broken. We do work individually with the puppies and take them outside for potty breaks to try to help with the potty training process, however this can in no way guarantee that they will be potty trained upon leaving our home.

How do I potty train my puppy?
We are strong believers in crate training your puppy and highly recommend purchasing one before you bring your new puppy home. This will be a safe haven for your puppy and a place to leave them when unattended cutting down on accidents. Puppies have smaller bladders, so they require being taken to their designated areas every hour until they've developed a larger stronger bladder. We have found crate training to be very affective in the potty training process.

Why Feed Grain-Free and what are the benefits of feeding grain free?
Many dogs seem to be sensitive to ingredients in traditional pet food formulas. Although true food allergies are relatively uncommon (only 10% of pets with allergies actually have food allergies), it does seem that food sensitivities are reported more frequently in veterinary practice than ever before. A food sensitivity can occur to any ingredient in a food, but most often occurs as a reaction to proteins, grains or artificial colorings or flavorings. Nature's Domain™ Salmon Meal & Sweet Potato Formula eliminates the potential for reactions to grains and artificial color or flavor by eliminating these ingredients from the food. Proteins are single source (fish), so even the most sensitive dogs will tolerate the formula. Nature's Domain™ is formulated to meet the nutritional requirements for all life stages. This means that you can start your puppy off right with Nature's Domain and continue to feed this same food as your puppy becomes an adult. This is especially beneficial when feeding multiple pets of varying ages in a household.

What do I need to do to get ready for my new puppy?
1.Owning a puppy is much like having a toddler! You need to puppy proof your home just as you would toddler proof it. Make sure there are no chemicals, poisons, electrical wires, cleaning detergents, etc laying around that the puppy can get into.
2.Purchase a crate and have it set up in the main area of the house. Somewhere that the puppy can hear you and see you. This will make his crate a much more comforting place to be. Toys and treats are always good too! If you don’t want to use a crate you can gate off a small area in a laundry room or hallway but make sure it has been puppy proofed and there is nothing they can chew on! Also, if this is an option you are thinking of instead of a crate you may want to consider using puppy pee pads as a puppy with much more room to roam is more likely to have accidents.
3.Find an area where you can take the puppy for frequent potty breaks. Take it back to the same spot each time – it will smell it’s potty from before and go there again. Take the puppy potty quite frequently, at least every hour and after it has ate or drank a significant amount. Potty breaks prevent accidents and help to build the habit of going outside to potty.

I brought my puppy home and he cried the first night. Is something wrong?
No, this is a common way for a puppy to react the first couple of nights away from his litter. He/She grew up with other siblings and in our home so they naturally are used to their surroundings. Your new home will soon be their enviroment that they will recognize. Do not move the puppy to a secluded area such as a basement if he cries. It will only make him cry more. If he will not sleep in the area you designated such as the kitchen move your small crate to a room where he can hear you. Before putting your puppy to bed be sure he has gone out to go potty, pet him, close the cage and turn off the lights, if he whines tell him, NO in a deep but quite voice (do not yell at him) and try to remain quite. He should settle down fairly quickly. We often allow the puppy to run (after going potty) for about 1/2 hour, so he will naturally be tired and want to go to sleep. If he awakens during the night, let him out to go potty then place him back immediately in his crate, turn off the lights and go back to sleep. Do not play with him in the middle of the night (unless you plan to do so the rest of his life as this will create a habit.) Please keep in mind that owning a puppy is much like having a newborn baby in the house and can be quite frustrating at times but gets easier once you and your puppy have developed a routine.

Can I call or email you if I have a Question?
